From July 24 to August 4, Gimcheon will play host to the annual Gimcheon International Theatre Festival for Families. For the past 13 years, both Korean and international performances have converged on Gimcheon and have attracted foreign and domestic audiences to its range of compelling theatrical presentations.
This year, the Festival is seeking to attract as many as 90 international volunteers to help in various capacities. Training will be provided on the day of the event.
The benefit? A fun experience at a popular theater festival in Korea and a chance to work behind the scenes, while developing valuable skills. An additional benefit will be to get an unlimited rail pass from KORAIL. All volunteers for the event will be given a ‘Rail-ro’ ticket, which allows for unlimited train travel on Korea’s Saemaeul or Mugunghwa classes of trains. The ticket will be good for 5 consecutive days or a total of 7 days, if used at different times. You can use the pass to take a train from anywhere in Korea to Gimcheon and then back again, but you can continue to use the train pass for your own exploring of Korea for as long as the pass remains valid. A great way to use some of your summer days!
To be eligible for KORAIL’s ‘Rail-ro’ pass, you must be 25 years old or younger and be willing to volunteer for at least one day at the Festival.
More information about the event can be found on the festival’s website (only in Korean, at this time).
