In case you haven’t noticed by now, Interstellar is coming to Korea in a few weeks and kicks off with its first showing at 12am on Nov.6 at CGV IMAX theaters throughout the country. Director Christopher Nolan has done a masterful job on keeping the lid on what the movie is truly all about and Paramount (handling North American distro) and Warner Bros (handling overseas distro) have equally done a masterful job in carefully fueling the hype machine surrounding the outer space adventure from the acclaimed director of Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, among other mega blockbusters. Only a select amount of celebs and critics have seen the movie so far, and the media is under a strict embargo not to reveal any reviews until Oct.27 (in North America). This has led to lucky individuals who have seen it to come online and elicit limited bursts of joy via Twitter.
Brad Bird, director of Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol, Ratatouille, The Iron Giant, and was recently a candidate for directing Star Wars VII, but had scheduling issues:
Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead and The World’s End, among others:
Rian Johnson, director of Looper and the critically acclaimed “Ozymandias” episode of Breaking Bad’s final season. Oh yeah, he’s also signed on to write and direct Star Wars VIII:
Depending on who you trust; either the random people who are using innovative expletives to emphasize their love for the film or A-list directors who have screened it and are erupting with praise, the overwhelming consensus is that the film is something not to be missed if you have access to an IMAX theater.
Fortunately, Korea has that covered and here’s a list of all of them with links to directions.
But it gets better. The much-hyped virtual headset of Oculus Rift has gone ahead and made an Interstellar experience, where you can deeply immerse yourself into the spaceship used in Interstellar and explore for around 3 minutes. Yongsan CGV happens to have an Oculus Rift booth set up now and you can try it out for free until Nov.9. The Oculus Rift Experience runs from 12pm-9pm and is first-come, first-serve. Check out the video below for more about the Oculus Rift’s Interstellar Experience.
