On Saturday, Nov.1, EverydayKorea, ENKOFE, and the government of Boseong County are teaming up to showcase one of Boseong’s unique events that celebrates the region’s famed cuisine of cockle clams. These mini-clams can be found buried just under the surface of the mud flats in the area. Historically, makeshift plank boats are used to slide along the surface, while people would rummage about the mud to find these delectable clams.
To reenact the history and practice of harvesting these clams, Boseong has a yearly festival known as the Beolgyo Cockle Festival, where an array of activities are scheduled, including a famed treasure hunt to see who can scoot around the mud flats and gather the most clams, along with Clam Cracking/Opening Contests, and Plank Boat Experiences.
A range of other related events and activities are being planned (watch this blog post for more updates). But here’s the best part. It’s all free. Your round-trip bus trip (Daegu departure only) is free. The whole festival, experiences and activities? Free. Keeping the clams that you collect? Free for you to grill or cook later. Your snacks and such will also be paid for. So basically, if you’re looking for a Saturday of free fun while exploring a unique side of Korea, the event is all set for you. But please note that the event coordinators have limited space for this free package, so please contact us at email@example.com, and we’ll get you booked with Boseong County.
