Gochang Green Barley Field Festival is held every year in April amongst the beautiful green barley fields of the Gochang-gun region.
The?Gochang Green Barley Field Festival is the region’s most popular festival with over 550,000 visitors during the past festivals. The festival celebrates the region’s plentiful barley. Visitors take part in activities such as making flutes out of barley and searching for hidden treasure in the barley fields. The festival will also consist of opening ceremony, exhibitions, cultural activity programs, country market area, live performances, and more. Visiting this festival would be good opportunity to see Seonunsan Provincial Park and Gochangeupseong Fortress.
Seonunsan Provincial Park is a popular destination throughout all four seasons. Visitors can enjoy camellias, cherry blossoms, cool valleys, thick woods, colorful foliage, and the sight of snow on rock cliffs can all be viewed at one spot. While visiting the park, drop by the 1,500-year old Seonunsa Temple.
Gochangeupseong Fortress is a natural fortress built by civilians in 1453. A government office building of the Joseon dynasty was rebuilt within the walls. Visitors can see an example of Korea’s traditional fortress architecture and take a stroll nearby amidst beautiful natural scenery. This is a Historic Site No. 145.

– From Seoul Central City Terminal, take an express bus to Gochang Terminal. From Gochang Terminal, take a bus to Mujang. From Mujang, transfer to a bus bound for Gongeum (공음) and get off at Seonsan.
