A Mexican grill that serves all of the authentic dishes that satisfies your Mexican cravings.
Takorea Mexican Grill adds onto the development of cultural diversity in Korea. The restaurant is located in the heart of Daejeon and is run by Jacobo Olguin and his wife. Currently, Mexican restaurant in Korea have been changed into a more fusion-style dish to fit the taste of the people in Korea and the foreign community. But, Takorea Mexican Grill has created dishes that are the original entrees of Mexico. From the menu, customers can taste anything from “everyday” Mexican dishes to dishes served on special occasions. The restaurant is not just a place to satisfy your cravings and manage your hunger, but a place to share and experience cultural diversity.
Coming into the restaurant, the interior reflects the traditional cultures of Mexico with pictures, pi?ata, Sarape, and other decorations that may be familiar to the ones who already have some knowledge about Mexico. The interior itself yells, “Traditional Mexico” all over. They have been working on awareness of Mexican culture within the community and have a lot more planned for the future. Takorea Mexican Grill also offers free Spanish conversation classes every Wednesdays for anyone of all levels to join.
As many of you may already know, trying to find ingredients to make foreign food in Korea is quite difficult. Takorea Mexican Grill has overcome this problem by making everything from scratch, even the rice and tortilla. With this said, the various sauces used for each dish is also made from scratch using the traditional recipes of Mexico. How much more authentic can this get? None of the dishes are premade. Each dish is created when the customer orders, giving the customer that extra taste of freshness. On the menu, there are the familiar tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. But, it is recommended you try the other things on the menu if you are in the “exploring” mood. So, the food is traditional but what about the drinks? That is definitely kept Mexican style, as well. Real Spanish Sangrias are made to give the best pairing with any of your dishes that was ordered. Of course, there are still the fun drinks like frozen margaritas, Coronaritas, Pina Colada, Mexican beer (Negra Modelo, Corona, XX Larger, Amber), and just regular draught beer.
A new dish to the menu and a very special gourmet in Mexico is Puebla Chile Relleno. To your surprise, this dish is served cold. After cooking it, they must go through a chilling process that takes a lot of time and work. This dish contains two green bell peppers stuffed with Mexican style ground beef, cheese, and raisins. Over it, it is smothered with homemade and traditional sweet walnut sauce and pomegranate. The rice that is served with this dish may look a bit strange, but it is actually rice made with tomatoes. Because the tomato is used for the color rather taste, you might not be able to taste it.
Another recommended menu is the Enchiladas. It is served in a more traditional way than the usual Enchilada you might be used to. This dish comes with three corn tortillas (homemade) with your choice of sauce. The dish itself has melted cheese, lettuce, sour cream, and onion on top with refried beans and your choice of chicken chipotle or Mexico style beef.
Takorea Mexican Grill did not forget about the Vegetarians out there. There is a section on their menu for Vegetarians or for customers who just want to eat a bit healthier. Customers can choose tofu or soy meat for their veggie taco, burrito, or chimichanga.
They have the friendliest service with a great atmosphere for one, two or group of friends. They even have set menus to accommodate for anyone. For more information, check them out on Facebook or click here.
