Bicycling tours are opened for Hwaseong Fortress and Hwaseong Haenggung Palace.
Cycling enthusiasts will have a closer look at beautiful historical sites of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Hwaseong Haenggung Palace. For those who do not have a bicycle, there are rental shops available in designated areas for the convenience of visitors.
As spring as opened its gates, it gives an opportunity for people to enjoy more outdoor activities. Cyclists can leisurely explore Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion and Yeongmudae (Dongjangdae), which are all located within the Hwaseong Haenggung area. Instead of strolling around, why not ride around on a bicycle? Any visitors interested in renting a bicycle can arrive on the site, worry-free. Rental shops are located at Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, Yeonmudae Archery Center, Hwaseomun Gate Entrance, and Janganmun Gate Information Desk. Hwaseong Haenggung Palace plaza has the most bicycles available, 60. All of the other locations have 25 each.
The bicycle rental shops will be open from March through November 2014, and will be closed on Mondays. Visitors who are interested in renting bicycles must fill out an application and provide a valid form of identification in order to rent a bicycle. The shops are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bicycles are rented out on a first come, first serve basis. Therefore, it is advised to arrive early to rent your own bicycle. Rental is 1,000 won per bicycle. This does not include the admission fees that may be required for various sites.
